LifeStraw

The affects of a disaster are felt instantly but the true effects of infrastructure such as water and sanitation are not fully realised until the following weeks when essential water supplies are no longer serviceable. This is when LifeStraw becomes a lifesaver.

The World Health Organisation states that typical human consumption is 1 litre of water per day for a 10 kg child, and 2 litres of water per day for a 60 kg adult.

LifeStraw is a portable water purification tool that cleanses surface water and makes it safe for human consumption. It is just 25 cm long and 29 mm in diameter and can be hung around the neck. LifeStraw requires no electrical power or spare parts.

The life expectancy of a single straw can be up to one year from the start of usage (calculation based on consumption of 2 litre water per day) and so provides immediate aid and long term benefit.

We place 6 LifeStraws in every box and these are kindly donated by FiltaStraw.
