LifeBox is acting to send aid to Haiti

The LifeBox coordinator liased with RC's in District 7020 and Rotary in Miami, Jamaica & Haite to work out the logistics of ensuring this shippment arrived at the right time and to the best Rotary sources for distribution.

A BIG thank you to VIRGIN ATLANTIC for their help.

The current situation is that 18 pallets of aid is currently ready to be shipped from the warehouse in Rochdale. That will consist of 159 LifeBoxes and 3 boxes containing a total of 900 LifeStraws. In all this shipment will be valued at just over £40,000 and will wipe out our complete stock of filled boxes and leave us with only 60 LifeStraws. We are hoping that with the aid of Virgin we will be able to get at least part of the transport to Haite paid for but we have committed to meeting any additional transport costs. We are almost certain that the shipment will leave at the weekend.

This will leave us with two problems - we need to replace the stock and then we need to pack more LifeBoxes to either send further supplies to Haite or if their further need is being met from other sources, make ready a stock of completed boxes ready to send out to the next disaster. Unfortunately as you are aware the next disaster is often just round the corner. Monetary donations are therefore needed as soon as possible. We may also be looking for volunteer teams to help us pack more boxes in the near future.
